Main Job Responsibilities

Successful applicants will perform duties including:

• Planting and cultivating crops
• Harvesting vegetables by hand and machine
• Picking tomatoes, cucumbers, bell peppers, squash, broccoli, cabbage and chili peppers
• Sorting and grading harvested produce
• Packing vegetables for shipment
• Loading produce onto trailers
• Operating tractors and farm machinery
• Operating forklifts in packing facilities
• Installing and removing irrigation equipment
• Removing weeds and maintaining fields
• Pruning, staking and tying crops
• Cleaning fields after harvest
• Washing tools and harvesting equipment
• Following food safety and quality standards
• Performing general farm labour as directed by supervisors

Job Requirements

Applicants should have:

• Minimum 2 months of farm work experience
• Ability to provide proof of previous agricultural work
• Ability to lift up to 60 lbs (27 kg) repeatedly
• Physical fitness for outdoor manual labour
• Ability to bend, walk, carry, push and pull throughout the workday
• Willingness to work in hot, humid, cold or wet weather conditions
• Availability for the entire employment period

This is an entry-level Skill Level I agricultural position where training and supervision will be provided.
